Step into a rewarding career as a professional school counselor with Husson University’s MS in School Counseling. This 60-credit program is designed to prepare graduates for impactful work within PK–12 school environments, with practice rooted in collaboration, guidance, and student advocacy. Upon completion, you can be equipped to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development as a certified school counselor. The curriculum includes 48 credits of foundational knowledge and skills, along with a 100-hour practicum and a 600-hour internship, giving you real-world experience in school settings. From classroom guidance to providing one-on-one counseling and collaborating with parents and educators, you can empower students to successfully navigate life’s challenges.

CO 702 Human Growth and Development

Provides an in-depth survey of the physiological, social, and psychological factors that influence the development of personality.

CO 706 School Counseling Programs

Focuses on the philosophy, objectives, and principles of comprehensive developmental school guidance programs at the K-12 level.

CO 720 School Counseling for Exceptional Students

Explores the philosophies, theories, assessments, and interventions to work with exceptional populations in PK-12 schools.

CO 881 School Counseling Internship I

Students apply theoretical knowledge and practical counseling skills in a school setting under professional supervision.

ACCREDITATION

The MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program combines preparation for certification and licensure and is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
